Useless Fact---In NZ we call them Kina, they're DELICIOUS! --When the Kowhai is in bloom the kina tongues are yellow and full, but sour; when the Pohutukawa is in bloom, they are red, full and sweet. Kowhai and Pohutukawa are native trees Pohutukawa blooms in Summer the best time for harvesting them.
