Really this is a topic which as I perceive it needs to be expressed more truthfully in mainstream media. Having said that, "myths" abound around a range of careers, and topics.

How long humans have been on this planet for example.
 
Good article, Sharaz, though based on Nevada in the US. The same myths seem to persist in Australian media. E.g. that sex workers are uneducated and lack the skills for 'respectable' work. This is despite the fact that the Australia research shows that sex workers are much more highly educated than the general workforce, with many having tertiary level education. I think a lot of people are uneasy about the sex industry, and it makes it easier for them to get their heads around it if they can write sex workers off as desperate or exploited.
 
Myth number one.. YOU wont ever get it free no matter what Birthday you are celebrating...
