Sex With A Disability.

Has anyone experienced play with someone with a disability? Obviously there would be difficulties somewhat but they still need pleasure every now and then and many may not get it. Been chatting to a lovely female who is wheelchair bound and she has shown interest in sexual pleasures. Could well turn out to be fwb/fb scenario if she’s genuine. Keen to know peoples thoughts and experiences if had sex with someone with a disability. Thanks.

I’ve seen quite a few people with different types of disabilities. I believe that all human beings of legal consenting age should have access to sexual pleasure. It is a human right, wether able bodied or not. In my experience, providing a service to someone who is disabled is on a scale. I’ve seen clients who are wheelchair bound but otherwise fine, and also clients who are bed bound and non verbal. At times it can be heart wrenching to see a person who can’t move or speak and provide a service to them. It is not the type of booking that everyone can do, and I must say that it depends on how I am feeling on that particular day/time in terms of what I have going on in my own personal life as to wether I have the emotional capacity to see certain types of clients. This work exposes us to a lot of different people/situations. It changes you. It opens you up and it can just as easily close you up too.

Great insight Nina.

You seem like a lovely person Nina. Good on you.

I remember a escort client from 42 years ago, we looked after him once a month for over 5 years. He was quadriplegic with only sensation in the lips and neck area.
His mum would dial the number, and he would organise the escort. Mum would let her in on arrival, and she was over 80 years of age. She would make her a cup of tea and then take her through to her son. He nearly always called back about a week later thanking us for organising his date.
I often wondered if things changed when his mum passed and he had to go into care and couldn't have his monthly cuddle.

That's quite sad 🥺

Very well said Nina. Xx

Thank you @tsmith, I appreciate that. So much of our work as FSSW requires us to dig into our own humanity.

Human connection and intimacy goes beyond sex. So much can be achieved through providing space to our fellow man.

I have learned and grown as a person through my encounters. It has enriched me as a person and made me better see and understand people in every aspect of life.

I am very grateful to the industry for teaching me this.

Much love 💕

That's the best post I've read all week......no contest.

Bless your lovely heart beautiful Nina. 💕

Yes that's what I did Nina. I can believe it would be tough if they can't even masturbate because their disability makes it too hard. It's one of the joys of life! My problem is that it's very easy for them to fall in love with me so I don't jump right in! There's nothing more painful than breaking a heart.

I have just been made aware that Sex worker access under NDIS is to be banned here in Australia…

This is truly a backwards move by Minister Bill Shorten. Sex and intimacy is a humanising experience that should be of access to all, including those with disabilities.

What a heart-breaking piece of news to learn today 💔
In fairness, very few were approved for funding. My mainstream job is disability support worker. This type of funding needed written approval from NDIS.
Is this part of the proposed changes in the future? Another issue was the hourly rate that could be claimed was extremely low. Hypertheticaly, speaking. Support workers could use core, hours funding to make up the amount. But run the risk of being done for fraud. Lots of changes are expected in the disability sector. So many rorting the system and long term it cannot be sustained.
SIN used to provide a list with disabled friendly workers. This is no longer available

This is extremely informative feedback from your professional perspective, I thank you for your comment, and what an invaluable forum member to have in this space to shed light on this.

Yes - this is a part of the planned reforms.
