Seeing a WL when not working

I know this does happen time to time.
I have always asked if they prefer me recognise them and say hello or just pretend you do not know them?
Sometimes we have even made up a story if there is someone with me where we had met.
I only ask this question as I then know it will not be rude if I just walk on by and say and do nothing if this is what they have requested.

I wonder how others deal with this?

This hasn't happened to me yet but have thought about it. I'm single so it's less likely I'll be with someone, but she could be (mother, sibling, friend or worst of all, husband/boyfriend), so I'd want to avoid putting her in an awkward situation.

In a busy place like a supermarket, I think I would probably just smile slightly -- as you might if innocently passing somebody in the aisle -- and gauge her reaction before saying anything. Out in the open (e.g. walking in a park), you can more easily tell if it's safe to acknowledge each other.

Probably one of the worse things to do.. As they may be with friends,,,family,,,or partner. Their time is their time...... If engagements with a lady is 100% paid and professional. It may wanna stay that way for the lady's benefit.

i normally smile and walk off. if their was someone with them , it would just look like i was gesturing to a beautiful lady :-) :-)

Gotta just leave them be Bluegrass9, after they have clocked off its their own personal time

Has only happened to me once and I just gave the subtlest of glances with a smile. Anything more would have been wrong especially as she was with friends.
i have crossed paths with many W/Ladies in the past and i did the same , smile and walk off unless she approached me for a conversation on what ever topic :-) :-)
