Ingredients
- ¼ cup sago (tapioca pearls)
- 1 cup milk (or coconut milk)
- 2–3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder (optional)
- A pinch of salt
- Chopped nuts or raisins for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse sago
- Wash the sago under running water to remove excess starch.
- Microwave sago
- In a microwave-safe bowl, add the sago and ½ cup water.
- Microwave on high for 4–5 minutes. Stir halfway through.
- The sago should turn translucent. If needed, microwave 1–2 minutes more.
- Add milk & flavor
- Pour in the milk, sugar, cardamom powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Microwave for another 3–4 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the pudding thickens slightly.
- Serve
- Let it cool for a few minutes or refrigerate to serve chilled.
- Garnish with nuts or raisins if desired.
- Stirring is key in the microwave to prevent sticking.
- For a creamier texture, use half milk and half coconut milk.
- Can add a few saffron strands for a richer aroma.
