5 day long weekend Thu 22 - Mon 26 Sept. Just take Fri 23 off.

Govt announced a new public holiday Thu 22 Sept for Queens death.
Take Fri 23rd off.
Sat 24th is AFL grand final.
Mon 26th in WA is the Queens Birthday holiday.

Thu to Mon 5 days off. Book hotel up north, east, south. I can see a rush for holiday spots. Get rooms before prices go up like they usually do for long weekend.

In WA Xmas to June we have 9 holidays.
After Jun to Xmas we only have 1 holiday. Now 2 for this year only, then back to 1 for next year.

Yes, when you roll the years together like that.
Many would usually just say 7 in 1st 6 months of year, 3 in 2nd 6 months.

Just as easily say Xmas to Anzac 8 holidays in 4 mths,
then only 2 for the other 8 mths.
 
There's definitely a sad feeling come the end of June public holiday, knowing it's over 3 months to the next one and only one public holiday before the end of the year
