kitty's desires

I'm getting to the point of quiting the business! Dont get me wrong I love my work and have had some really great experiences and met nice people. But I am so over clients making bookings and just not showing up! Is it really so difficult to send a txt to cancel? Or at the very least to appologise for stuffing a WL around? It's not the fact they are cancelling that is peeving me off, it's the fact I'm losing other jobs because they dont show or cancel when I could be seeing another client!

I'm using the three strikes you're out method now, cause I've had it with being mucked about and losing money from genuine bookings.

Rant over...thanks for letting me blow off some steam.

thanks blues xxx
Fingers crossed it does! Such a fickle business this!

Book the lot when someone rolls up put a notes on the door , back in ? many minuets.

Hi Kitty,

The best way is like any business. You need to get the client committed with money up front, or at least some. When you do this you know they're serious and if they no show, then you still get something out of the deal. A serious client won't have a problem with this. I've always paid up front and many agencies that I've booked through, ask this anyway, otherwise they don't send the lady. Another way is if they don't want to pay a deposit, ask for their credit card details as a security deposit. I;m not a WL, but, if I was, I would definitely be doing this to filter out the time wasters. This is common with many businesses.

Hope this helps ya luvy.

Money's to tight to mention, right now.
I've had a few cancellations although I'm in the catering field.
I think it's a vicious circle especially this time of the year where all sorts of bills turn up. Most people priorities their funds and I guess Catering or the service of a WL is not an important priority.

LOL Farmboy...I couldn't do that! Could you imagine arriving at your appointment on time to find you have to wait another 30mins or so? I don't think that'd work in my favor!

FatJack, thanks for the advice. 99% of my clients wouldn't pay a deposit as I am a private lady, and they would see it as a risk (too many stories of wl running off with deposits ect). But is definately a good idea

Onwithit...money is indeed tight for everyone. I just wish they'd have the courtesy to let me know they're cancelling instead of just being a no-show. That way I could accept other bookings for their time slot. Tough time of year for everyone.

damn selfish people in this world!!
doesn't matter if your a wl or a business.
those people should take a minute from there very boring live, and consider.
By having just a bit of common courtesy and let the wl plans changed.
Aleast this way the WL can still manage to fit a client in who might have rung up when she booked atm!!!!

it's not hard gentlemen!!! it's time to start acting the part!!

Thank you tree88...well said. That is all it is, common courtesy!

Wow 3 strikes is more than my rate. I give one chance, and if they don't show up the first time, then they are marked in the phone and I don't answer it.

Also are you taking private numbers?

Yes it is frustrating when they don't show up or have the common courtesy. I guess this happens in every industry whether one is seeing a doctor, naturopath etc.

Sometimes their doubt shows on the phone as well, or any other 'funny' stuff like they stand out or as not as polite as the other men. Usually I sense this and won't take them too seriously.

well, i beleive in karma and pretty sure someone will give them the run around so they know how it feels.

i remember in the past i didn't show up to hairdresser appts, and so i've learnt my lesson. everyone out there with a job knows how frustrating it can be. it reeks of arrogance and disrespect. it's rather embaressing too, when you get caught out.

if not for the other person, do it for yourself..as a person functioning in society. do unto others as you would have them do unto you :)

lol Laura...they are marked in my phone with their strike counts and after third strike I don't respond to them. I give the three chances as sometimes life does get in the road of plans we make...but it's not hard to take 30 seconds to send a txt and cancel. I do take the private numbers, but rarely take them seriously. All the no-shows have been from unblocked numbers and they sounded genuine. I can usually judge people pretty well...so it's annoying to get it wrong so many times...perhaps they get cold feet I don't know lol.

Lantana I am with you there...I believe in Karma aswell and what goes around comes around ten times worse. So I treat people as I wish to be treated :)

Thanks ladies xxx
