Media servers

hay does anyone have any info on decent media server software..

I've been using TVersity for ages but recently it's become quite unstable and I can't even get it to look at one of my had drives anymore..

Anyone use something else they could recommend?
 
I just ran an XP box with an array of hdd's but I just used it to store audio and video files. I didn't stream tv or encode.

I've heard good things about Serviio and Plesk but don't have any personal experience with either.

Are you doing fully centralised distribution or more file storage? And are you online? It may have picked up a virus or need a defrag. Most people don't bother any more. Or a dying hdd.
