Locanto - Forced to provide a mobile number

I've used Locanto for many years and have had a Locanto account for alerts and occasionally for messaging. This afternoon I try to log in and they require a phone number of verification before I can proceed.

Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Just typical ... they want more and more of you ... really unwarranted to know people's personal mobile number. Later get spam or phishing or unsolicited phone calls.

Im one that hates sharing my personal details, hence no social media. But I suspect it may be to stop ,ost of the scam ads that are on Locanto.
Lots of advertisers on there that then direct you to there email address.
What they achieve from directing you to an email I will never know.
I just flag the ads, that looking suss now, e.g. a pic showing email address.
