Why do we get it in one eye?
Is it true you are meant to pee on your finger and rub it on your eye?
How do I get rid of it quickly?

Its an infection. nothing you can do fast until the pus appears. Then use something pointy but clean, and break it and squeeze the pus out.

Anything unusual involving your eyes/sight should be attended to by a qualified professional; in this case I suggest dropping in to see a pharmacist in the first instance who should be able to advise you on the best course of action after examining your particular problem.

I sure as hell wouldn't go sticking pointy things in there off the bat. But then my peepers are important to me for watching porn and the like. :jimlad:

Quickest way I found was to heat a gauze under hot water, the hotter the better, and simply press directly on sty to draw to infection to the surface and keep repeating a few times as the gauze cools. DO NOT RUB IT WITH THE GAUZE.

A stye is usually caused be a bacterial infection, most commonly staphylococcus in a eyelid glands.

Do not touch with unclean hands or any non sterile material.

If using cleaning buds or makeup do not use after touching infection as it can easily spread.

Only one option,
See your GP ASAP! For treatment with eye creams ( antibiotic )
Sadly do not use eyeliner or any other makeup whilst infection is active.
It can make it worse.

Stress is the main cause or accidental rubbing of eye, easiest way to remove it from experience,is to sterilize a needle tip and prick it then gently clean it with soft cloth

I can't decide whether to be proud or disappointed none of us have made any piggy references (since it is a sty we're talking about). Not even h2 or FB2.

Hi Mary Anne, A stye is usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus a bacteria that also causes other skin and soft tissue infections. It is an abscess of the small sebaceous glands associated with eyelashes. Most respond to warm compresses until the abscess points and spontaneously discharges. Topical antibiotics are are usually not required, but removal of the eyelash is often helpful.

A lot if things can cause them, mascara, rubbing your eyes, dust and infection, could be the change of climate.
best to call into a chemist and get them to look at it, they may give you a saline eye wash and some ointment.
try not to scratch it even if it is itchy, should clear up in a few days.

Ozrock and XLNC are right - especially the advice to see a Doctor immediately if not sooner.

Sties or any other infection in or around the eye need to be attended to quickly, usually by antibiotics which can only be obtained by prescription. Any amateur attempts at fixing the problem will only result in making a minor annoyance into a major problem.

It could also be caused by a blocked duct. I'd definitely get it checked out. Top End Medical centre is just around the corner :)

An old remedy from days gone by was to lightly rub a gold ring around the area, the higher the carat the better.

I went to the chemist, hot compresses and some special eyedrops and it was back to normal in 48 hours. I think a eyelash got caught in my eye causing the sty.

That was the only sensible thing to do See a Chemist or Doc Your eyesight is far to valuable
Can't believe anybody would suggest pricking a stye with a needle etc
I think of styes as a pimple and it will dissipate of its own accord in a few days And I'm sure your mum told you never pop a pimple
