I suspect a lot of you have seen my thread in QLD Discussion (https://www.talkinsex.com/threads/thinking-about-starting-sex-work.103182/) so I’ll give you some background.
At around the end of April I was hanging around with some friends when one told us about a girl in one of her classes who’d been outed as a sex worker. Apparently she was getting a lot of abuse from some of the class and getting the silent treatment from most of them.
My friends weighed in and generally said she deserved what she got. I sat there thinking “wtf. They don’t even know her“ So I put my 2 cents in saying something like “What’s the problem? If she wants to do sex work that’s up to her” A moment of silence and then “So it’s ok for woman to do sex work?” I started digging the hole deeper “Yes if she wants to do it” Some filthy looks later “Would you do it?” Time to start filling in that hole “If I thought it was a good option” I’ll let you guess the rest.
It was shortly after that night when I started getting curious about the sex industry.
Since then I occasionally thought about it but not seriously until three or four weeks ago. My finances were shaky and uni was finishing soon and I needed a summer job so I thought I’d at least consider working. I certainly wasn’t opposed to it. After a lot of googling I found TS a few days ago and joined up. By the time I posted in QLD Discussion, I’d more or less decided to take the plunge.

I was motivated by greed (which would be 4) and curiosity.

One Friday night early last year I was supposed to meet friends for drinks. I didn't know the bar so they gave me the address. I rocked up to the address and didn't find a bar. So, I walked down the street and found a bar and went in intending to have a drink and call my friends. When I called one of my friends she told me that they'd gone to different bar instead. I was not happy.

It was at this point that a woman in her mid 40s approached me. She was well dressed and wearing immaculate makeup so I didn't think anything of it when she told me she was going outside for a smoke and did I want to chat since I looked upset. She offered me a cigarette and we chatted and smoked for a few minutes about what had happened and what I did for a living and so on. Then she started talking about how pretty I was and how I must be popular with guys. I had a good idea of what was going to come next and, sure enough, she asked me if I had ever considered doing sex work. I could have walked away but I was curious so I said no and she told me about how easy the work would be and how much money I would make if I worked for her in her brothel. The more she told me the more tempted I became and she knew it. She finished by giving me her number and telling me to call her when I was ready to work.

I knew I was going to call her but I kept putting my phone down when I picked it up to call her for the next few days. On the Wednesday morning, I told myself that If I was going to do it I better call her now and get it over and done with. She asked me to come in later that day and I was seeing clients the next day.

That's good to hear. I'm thinking of venturing into the industry. Tried to go out there but none of the ladies were interested. Even offered a BOGOF deal. No takers. Dropped price to zero. Still no takers! 🤪

I left it to chance when i walked in.. i thought if they take me i will give it a go... they did so so did i..
did my first shift and loved it...
coming up to the three week anniversary now and still love it...

and yes hopefully it pays off the mortgage a little faster so i can do things my own way and not have to rely on anyone else to get where i want to go.

I was at uni and needed money and so googled "perth brothel" and went to the closest one to my house. Since then I have been in and out of the industry a few times while in relationships or travelling. I love it a lot and find it much more interesting than other jobs I

If I can say this in the light of the economic climate and becoming a sex worker.. I don't blame any female for entering the game.

"Prices are at 2026 levels and as the banks and others stated last week wages are now at 2011 so that alone"

This game gives women, freedom, money of there own (hopefully) and I say that as we all know why, but it also gives women freedom to set hours, to set boundaries, if she knows she is getting 20 plus hours a week she can live her life around that, how many women have put kids through great schools in this game, bought houses, fancy handbags heels etc all being involved this in game... Yes we all know its not all pretty woman stuff, but if a woman enters the game with the right frame of mind she can do very well inside it. But I do not blame any woman for entering this game, actually I take my hat off to her, give her a massive hug and kiss and wish her the best of luck with it and give her more over the utmost respect she deserves

Some ladies who have worked for Mary Anne have gone on to become independent workers and have done very well doing so, a few of us know who they are if you have been on talkinsex for a while, so not only do you have respect and congratulate these wonderful women, you also have to do the same for the likes of Mary Anne who actually gives these brave women entering this game a chance, plus those that stuck with Langtrees on the floor now are behind the front desk. so it just not the lady entering the game its the owners who stand by these women not only as sex workers but when they leave the game also...

Great read but I do wonder for how many women who've achieved their goals via sex work; how many have fallen by the wayside and not attained them. I know several who haven't but have lots of clothes, a car to show for it but not a house or property portfolio they were hoping to achieve. It takes stamina and a dedication to a goal(s) to get there not just the means to a certain course of work. Then of course.... there's BURNOUT!
