Hormone Replacement Therapy/Medications

So if I do have to have a total hysterectomy, what is the deal with HRT?

I've read so many mixed things.

Has anyone here had personal experience with this?
Either as the person needing it or from a partner or family member point of view?

I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible and personal experiences count for a lot in my opinion.

My ex had to have a total hysterectomy when she was in her late twenties as she had pre-cancerous polyps on her ovaries. She was not advised at the time to take HRT though, not once. Yet, she still went through menopause in her late 40's/early 50's which I thought not to be possible after that operation. Shows how wrong I was. Doing some reading and speaking to a couple of doctors I was informed it can happen, though not common.

All I can advise is that you talk to your gynecologist about it and see what they recommend you do. If you are still unsure seek another specialist's opinion.

My continued best wishes to you Tania.

HRT is pendant on if both ovaries are removed which is classed as a different operation. Hysterectomy only takes the uterus and cervix šŸ˜Š
