Current Prices

are the extra fees for paying by card a legit thing or are they just BS to get more money out of us? i dont see any other service offering 10% more if you pay by card
Any person / business taking EFTPOS payments are paying a fee of between 0.5% and 3% on each transaction. Cost of the eftpos machine might be $400-$600 a year depending on situation but you can bet the businesses with hundreds or thousands of machines are getting better pricing.

Most places (Woolies etc) build the fees into their business but some places, coffee shops etc, are starting to pass on the fees so you see it come up on your phone. Some places are double dipping, building the fees into the cost of your goods or service whilst passing on the fees.

Anyone charging 5 or even 10% are just scamming you!!

Costs of living is getting out of hand, so are current prices but whilst people still continue to pay $8 for a cup of coffee or $500 for an hours company, people have no incentive to find ways to lower costs.

With Square you buy the machine for $300 and own it, and the fees are only 1.6%

It'll be interesting to see what the RBA are proposing in their recent announcement of discussion on this issue.

Part of the situation is also because a lot of the customers don't want to use their card for obvious reasons if they're married etc.

If you look at Parlors rosters they are full during the working week, and rather barren on weekends.. so that means loads of married Perth men are having day time trysts.... so on weekends they all go without...

Yeah.. then we pay tax to pay for their public amenities, while they send most of their money home..

Its' their money though.... pay tax to fund a trainset and constant road works on a freeway,....
