I've been watching this and oh how my heart aches for those poor people. Yes I knew a little about it but I was no way prepared for the enormity of it.
How awful for the people and how awful for our planet.

I have seen videos from people who have illegally entered the area and how animals and plants etc are taking back the land but how much have they been biologically altered?

Are any of our members somehow linked to the area? Did it affect any of our members families? I truly hope not.

I'm amazed this terrible disaster is not part of school curriculums.

My eyes are now open.

Agree it should be included in schools as it's a devastating part of history
 
I've heard its great - the soviet authorities didn't tell the residents what was happening so many more were exposed to radiation risk than needed to be.

The time lost in not moving the people, because they didn't want the world to know how bad it was, will affect many many generations 😪
 
great series, a few liberties with the truth as usual (according to survivors).
didn't know that the core was in danger of burning through the concrete base and affecting the water supply for millions of people.
scary stuff
 
I definitely understand why Australia does not have nuclear power.

I'm going to look into Fukishima now.

If the plants are built right in the 1st they are safe as, and its the best form or power, hence why the US Navy use Nuke ships/submarines for its navy.

Fukshima should of never been built the way it was and where it was that was an accident waiting to happen.

Australia is sitting on mass deposits of Uranium that is sells overseas but fails to use it at home.

I was reading this morning that we supply 33% of the world's Uranium.

And we have Federal Laws in place in Australia banning Nuclear Power Plants
