Being "that girl" when dining out

Being an adult with a food allergy or intolerance makes things difficult for friends you haven't seen in a long time, but most of all when you date someone. Dining out can be a nightmare.

The level at which those with A/I have to go to checking menus and what not to see if it's safe or makes A/I friendly dishes.

The hardest part is when you have an unusual A/I that people think you're making excuses for. It's frustrating and upsetting.

On the eastern states there's this crazy little tick that has a venom that DING DING DING causes protein intolerances, which add that to a predominantly meat diet made for a horrific outcome.

I happen to be one of the lucky ones that also ended up growing into an intolerance. Specifically meat. Red meat, white meat, seafood, all of it makes me sick. Not oh my tummy is a bit upset or bloating. No I'm talking horrifically and violently ill, hugging the toilet and crying for the next few hours.

It's draining and as much as I miss steak, that kind of trauma isn't worth it.
9 years and still crying on the inside when people order the most delicious steaks and pork.

Not a choice but unfortunately it makes me a difficult person to go out places with, and I feel horrid everytime they remember. It's no-one's fault but it doesn't stop me from feeling guilty. Wish life was a little different

So xZaidax If you are unfortunate enough to end up on death row in the Good ol US of A
I assume the last meal is going to be a humungous steak with all the trimmings?

I had never heard of this allergy/intolerance before It must be a nightmare at times Is it for life or something the boffins are working on to at least alleviate if not cure?

Forced vegetarianism...sounds like a nightmare! I know someone who realised they had accidentally become a vegetarian after not eating meat for a number of years...though if you're craving it and just can't eat it that would be a giant pain in the buttocks :/

Sorry to hear about your allergies . It must be really hard for you with everyday food choices. I think most of us have it pretty easy.

I have food intolerance to certain stuff as well, and I'm still in the denial phase. Which makes it difficult to get my family and friends on board with it. I remember trying to plan xmas dinner menu with mum and just feeling like sad... Not out to force my diet on others but seriously don't want to turn up to dinner parties and being invited out places that I shouldn't be eating at. Unfortunately I'm still on the fence between I either don't eat at all or just eat and suffer later. As time goes on and I keep passively eating food I shouldn't be i get more motivated not to...
