Gentleman - what do you do ? :)

I could be taken as shallow in saying this :p please forgive me in advance :)

But!
The best thing I find about Australia Day, despite the variance in what day it shoulda coulda woulda be celebrated
Is
That on the 26th, we do unite as a nation :) (with the usual conflictations anyone has in a multicultural society) we do still come together and say I'm an aussie and I'm proud of it with all that I am :)
I like this element :)
Equally, I honour all the other important elements in our history.
And Anzac Day, rates high on my radar :D

To me, so long as we find peace as a multicultural society.

That's what's matters !
I enjoy stopping to listen to the variance of music, arts and everything in Australia that makes our nation what is - a joy!
I do like the opportunity to say thank you for Oz being what it is today and compared to many nations, that's a lot!

;D we have a lot of freedoms in australia.

Xx

well I have a bad experience in an Australia Day couple of years ago.. I was travelling in a bus with a female friend to see the fireworks and neither me or the friend is Australian.. Both of us got abused so much by the Aussies to a point we had to get out of the bus!
that was the only racial abuse I've had in this country , and ironically that was on an Australia Day!

I'm one Aussie in this world and I can't answer to the experience you've had :(
That's a shame, you experienced that!
We aren't all hostile :)
Most of us are pretty friendly in Oz x

...never judge a society by the actions of the moronic few. Maybe one day they will stop devolving and realise that amoeba are more intelligent than them.

I guess those academics who said the people who adorn there cars etc where more racist Were trying to point out those people who use the flag to hide behind, and as an excuse to bully and vent their personal bigotry on their fellow Aussies who had the temerity not to be of Western European heritage
Whether that be Indian etc or even heaven forbid an original Australian

I am proud to be Oz And the way 98% of us welcome those who truly want to become Australians too

Hi Guys,
Today still recovering from time in hospital but still delight being able
to come on the forum especially on this historical day and being part of this fantastic nation xxxx Andrea

Hi Happy2 :),
Thank you soooo much means alot to me xxxxx yeah this weather is crazie sitting in aircon phew you keep cool to and have a great day and dont forget to slip slop slap xxxxx Andrea

It wasn't the bogan side of things Demon It was the article about the Aussie flag and racism

At the servo just before I saw an Asian kid wearing a wife beater and thongs get out of a worked current model Maloo with 2 really decent flags in the tray!

Couldn't get ant more austrayan.

My day has now turned into the cliche australia day pool party wearing Australian flag boardies or bikinis. 10-11 girls, 3 blokes. Which means no horsy's or bommies off the roof :(

What else could you want. I have no hope of even getting one fully clothed girl near my house so no chance of 10 girls in bikinis!:BangHead:

So hot and humid with no air con. Love to be laying on saiges naked body playing with ice:love10:

The rain was just what we needed to cool Perth down :)
Loooved the storm, was awesome and the natural fireshow definately outshone the
artificial one, 10 times over :p

From a physical point of view it's always great but there was more salad than meat, no sauce(!!) and when the storm started, it was like the end of the world!

Different part of the state different view on the light show
You can keep your firelighting lightshows As pretty as they are
Prior to this batch of storms
The lightshow caused several fires in our region and we even had to shoot some animals caught in said fires Farm and native animals alike Poor Buggers
