Everything in moderation...I've read a few "diet" books...but the one I really enjoyed which gave me, I believe, a healthier understanding of food relationships was "French women dont get fat". The book itself isn't a how to on loosing weight as much as it is about developing a good relationship with what you put on your plate.
I have a love affair with food. I'm lucky enough to like food and like different styles, from pretty much everywhere. There is no way I would ever cut a food from my diet just to be skinny. I love bakeries and pastry and pasta and cakes and chocolates way to much. But I've learnt to create a balance by eating fresh, local produce as much as possible. I love veggies and fruit and have a good amount of raw food knowledge to whip up some pretty tasty clean foods...so I can have richer foods every now and again...
Where I have missed the boat since working is hitting the gym. Sometimes I really miss that time and sometimes I look back and wonder why would I want to spend money on a memebership when I can do more enjoyable forms of excersise by just enjoying life... Utlising my pushbike, walking when I don't need to use my car, getting out more, and make time for sex. Like I said...I sometimes miss the gym and the good feeling after a weights session...so not sure how I feel about not finding a new one now that we have moved house.
At the end of the day I think good nutrition and food knowledge is way more important and needs to be promoted more, along with healthy lifestyle choices...which means being mentalty and emotionally healthy as well.
