Page 11 of today's "West" carried a story about the W.A. Health Department trying to locate clients of a prostitute who "has worked in W.A. and recently tested positive to H.I.V".

Apparently the lady in question is co-operating with the authorities to try and locate all of her contacts so they can be tested.

No names were mentioned of course but if anyone had a visit with a lady visiting from interstate recently it might be wise to have a checkup.

Be handy if we had W/l "s Working name and phone No.as A reference (back tracking threw moble records)

This is why it is so imperative, as clients to also do your bit and be active in doing 3 monthly sexual health checks.
It never ceased to amaze me when I was a working lady, how many men offered and begged to use no protection.... A worrying story

I had this problem once many years ago. One of the ladies tested positive. She came to Perth and helped me out as a housekeeper whilst doing all the tests and interviews.
She always tested positive at Royal Perth hospital and always tested negative at King Edward.
I was amazed that in her first two hour health interview they tested her safe sex knowledge then virtually said she could carry on working as long as she practiced safe sex.
I questioned the departments motives on allowing HIV to continue working and they pointed out that it was against Federal Law to discriminate of prevent anyone from earning a income.
This lady never returned to sex work and after three months it was discovered that because she had Ross river virus, this was giving the false readings and that she was not HIV positive.
What I did discover was that two workers were working in Perth at that time with HIV.
All they would ever say was that neither worked for me.
You must also note that Trans are considered ladies by the health department and they are not allowed to differenate, so this worker could be a TG girl.
Lastly any client/guy that practices penetrative unsafe sex with a sex worker or a casual partner is a bloody idiot.
Remember ladies that we are ten times more likely to pick up a HIV infection from a male with the infection, than a male picking it up from a lady.
From recall the chance is 1/10 for woman, meaning if we bonk 10 guys with HIV we get it.
1/100 for men. Men would have to bonk 100 ladies to pick up the infection. Remember who can say if it would be the first or the last.
Practice safe sex, use condoms and the chances reduce to 1/10,000-1/100,000

This might be an appropriate thread for me to throw this up for an answer/discussion. How many people here feel it is safe to perform oral sex on a W/L? As it involves the contact of bodily fluids (I am aware saliva does not transmite HIV) is not the client more at risk if the W/L has HIV in this particular situation? I am aware of many W/L who travel around the country, so unlike ladies from established houses who have regular health checks they may be a risk to themselves and clients.

Unless the lady had her period, and the client had a cut or hole in his gums, the risk is very minor. It has never been proven of HIV passed by oral sex either way.
This is one issue which i feel is between the lady and the client and the current circumstances.

Now every one is taking notice.
If it is in The WEST it must be true and Accurate.

Doubt it will be a FIFO interstate lady.
Why would she get tested in WA.

I wouldn't have a clue.
Some one mentioned a FLYIN/FLYOUT and another mentioned he wouldn't think she would have a test, yet maybe quicker and easier to test in WA.
One rumor is that she was very popular.(remark from someone in health.
If the health dept have a record from here phone as another has suggested by PM they will have to approach enquiry calls as well.
The chances of HIV through natural french are unheard off and to date have never seen a report, except one on gay guys where the idiot was silly enough to do a head job the same day he had his wisdom teeth pulled.

I'm always a bit sus about stories like this, with new prostitution laws looming in the near future i have to wonder if it suits someones political agenda to release a few stories like this.

I hope it is not true, if it is it would be good if the ladies working name was known as it would put a few punters minds at ease, maybe she could post on here herself.

So what are punters supposed to do? Simply call the WA Health Dept. and bumble their way through the switchboard / reception etc.., probably get put though to the wrong dept. once or twice???

I read the article and was a little surprised at the lack of information provided. A phone number would have been a good start as this is a serious and sensitive issue which can affect a lot of people, even if a person ultimately tests 'negative'.

Re read the article in the West.
It says that the lady has worked in Perth.

This can be read 3 ways.

1 The lady has worked in Perth and has stopped and is still here.
2 The lady has worked in Perth and has left the State.
3 The lady is a High Class FIFO visiting regularly.

Mick7 has a valid point it does seem a coincidence that this has been reported right now.

I only do protected sex.
I don't normally accept unprotected oral from new ladies in particular is she is very popular and known inthe industry for offering natural oral. Just limiting my odds.
I've got myself tested earlylast week and already have my results...negative.

For anyone who is worried this may help.

Most people develop detectable HIV antibodies within 6 to 12 weeks of infection. In very rare cases it can take up to 6 months.

A negative test at three months will almost always mean a person is not infected with HIV. If the test is still negative at six it means the person is not infected with HIV

The test is extremely accurate but because it is so sensitive it can detect other antibodies and therefore there is a very small chance that a result could come back as a "false positive". All positive results are followed by confirmatory tests.

id be pretty concerned if this lady was still working in perth (or anywhere) - now there's seomthing to mull over.........................

Good to see some accurate HIV info. Gee there is some rubbish put out around the place!

What a load of bullshit about the coincidence that mick7 reports.
The health department is very serious about privacy issues and for them to issue a statement a problem has occurred.
Get real guys did you think it would never happen?
Do you think the lady deliberately contacted the virus to infect you personally?
How the hell would she have got it in the first place...I would think the logical answer is some guy gave it to her, but just maybe she is a hemophlytic (you know what I mean) and contacted it that way.
Who knows who cares, any one that practises unsafe penetrative sex is taking a risk...
Don't bleat afterwards!!!!!!!!!

Woah thats a broadside, what happened to impatiality, something touch a nerve there??
Stating the obvious is not going to achieve anything.

As mentioned on another forum we should feel sorry for the lady, who ever she is and be willing to provide unbiased support if required.

To my mind it is all about respect. I personally would never have any kind of sex with person that I didn't respect. And the best way to respect the person you are having sex with is to protect them by by using a condom.

Lets be realistic here. The modern condom is so thin it's hardly noticeable anyway. Gone are the days of condoms that feel like they are made out of recycled car tyres. Besides, using a condom makes the pleasure last just a little bit longer.

Safe sex means that you can play around without bringing home a nasty surprise. And THAT is showing respect for your partner as well, even if you may be cheating.

It sounds similar to that circus guy who Had HIV and slept with thousands of girls and police are now tracing up all the women involved with him. My question would be do women find circus people that attractive? lol

I think I have a couple of candidates but can't andwon't mention their names for obvious reason. Agreed that safe sex is a must, if its not with your gf or wife.
cbj and no daty probably the way to go too...

Any new developments on this story?I know of some guys getting the phone call ,also a POI(police talk)now still working,n insisting that a condom is used, where before it was optional

"I know of some guys getting the phone call "

well then BEPP, you should be updating the rest of us.....or is this a pork pie?
