I am not a smoker, and don't like passive smoke either, but many of the measures they have put in place, or are trying to,, appear to be just unnecessary 'smoker bashing'.
I am convinced that smokers, like gun owners, are soft targets for any 'do gooder' with spare time on their hands to think up new ways of torturing.
I thought democracies were all about protecting the rights of all to freedom to pursue their own interests, as long as they didn't hurt too many other people - everything hurts someone ! (fishing hurts fish and professional fisherman, cars hurt pedestrians and other car users they crash into, etc).
Its a good thing I don't smoke, or own a gun, or else I may get really upset about all the unnecessary attacks, and go puff smoke in the face of a pollie before shooting down the Australian flag !
Seriously though, I am a drinker (beer, wine, scotch - and yes, Pirate, rum !), but do admit that drunks appear to be a much bigger problem on the roads, in domestics and in the city on Sat nights than smokers !
But there is far too much money, and too many keen drinkers for alcohol to become a 'soft target' like smoking and guns.
Lucky for me !
