Hey - not that this is really news, but here is an article that appears on BBC this morning - http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-32313604

With coal mining communities already struggling, iron ore towns are now feeling the first wave of shocks that will ripple through Australia's economy.

One such town, Port Hedland in Western Australia's remote Pilbara district, has seen hardship before but this time round it will be tough, according to Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce managing secretary Arnold Carter.

"Everyone is worried," the 87-year-old former deputy mayor told the BBC.

"Fear of the unknown is the biggest handicap. Miners won't spend when they can't see past the end of next week."

Wow Arnold is still going! He was old when I was a young fella working up there many moons ago. Bugger the economics I wonder what his secret to longevity is. My apologies for lowering the intellectual level of this interesting commentary.

Seems everybody is feeling the pinch (and the cold) . Would be a good plan to warm yourself with a willing lover - we need some rooms with roaring fires and bearskin rugs :) Thatd be a good marketing idea :)

I might be wrong, however i don't think $50 is enough to make the average punter rush down? I think it would have to be $300 tops and even then you wouldn't want to be charging extras for basic services. I think if you were to do a serious thread on asking what the punters want, 90% would say cheaper prices.

Tinder (don't ignore this..) and the economy will continue to drive demand down I think. It sucks for your livelihood but many of the lads who come in are in the exact same situation. My livelihood also depends on getting people to spend money and it's never been tougher.

Tinder girls and working girls are two entirely different breeds. People use establishments because they are clean, discreet, and, most of all, safe. There are procedures put in place to ensure that when you come into a brothel, you're not leaving with anything you didn't bargain for. Sure, you might be able to get a free fuck on Tinder, but at what cost?
