The river runs downhill rapidly until we die
But it’s easy to row against it if you try
Although if you want to go to hell in my handbasket

My basket is full but there is room for more
The less we resist the faster we are going
So if you want to go to hell in my handbasket

Give up living, Give up knowing
Give up trying; Give up peace, Give up life
If you want to go to hell in my handbasket
You will have to stop rowing
The more in my basket the deeper the river
The deeper the river the faster it goes
So fill up my basket until it’s overflowing

Fill it with drama, Fill it with stress
Fill it with hatred, Fill it with loath
Because the heavier my basket the quicker it goes
If you want to go to hell in my handbasket
You will have to stop rowing
Winds move the river, continuously blowing
They carry our tears, our screams and our cries
Their mist fills my basket and hurries our travel
But if you want to go to hell in my handbasket
You will have to stop rowing
Laughter makes it lighter, joy, happiness, success
So does being, doing and caring where you are going
But if you do these things and fight against the rest
My basket will stop
